Six Stars for  Sexual Trauma Survivors

The World Marathon Majors (WMM) is a series of six of the largest and most renowned marathons in the world: the Tokyo Marathon, Boston Marathon, London Marathon, Berlin Marathon, Chicago Marathon, and New York City Marathon.

Charitable organizations raise millions of dollars each year during these races. As well as spreading awareness to a massive audience.

No organization has ever focused on sexual trauma survivors.

When I complete Boston and Chicago, I will be the first person to run all six World Marathon Majors for sexual trauma survivors.

As a therapist who has spent my career working with survivors of sexual assault and trauma, I’ve seen firsthand how life-changing quality therapy can be, and how many survivors go without it simply because of cost. Running six marathons across six countries is my way of putting my own time and effort behind that mission, mile by mile.

My plan is to do all of them. Every single one for sexual trauma survivors. Every penny raised will be donated to provide free therapy for survivors.

My six star journey for survivors stars in Berlin Germany. Since then, London, New York City, and Tokyo are also complete — four down, two to go: Boston and Chicago.

The Mission

The World Marathon Majors provide a powerful platform for raising money and awareness for sexual trauma survivors due to their global reach, massive participation, and significant media coverage.

Sexual trauma touches far more lives than most people realize. One in six women and one in thirty-three men in the U.S. will experience an attempted or completed rape in their lifetime, and someone is sexually assaulted every 68 seconds. Yet only about one in five survivors ever seeks medical care — cost is one of the biggest reasons why. Weekly therapy alone can run $7,800 to $10,400 a year, and survivors without insurance are far less likely to get the counseling they need.

The mission is simple:

1.) Increase Awareness + Advocacy

2.) Crucial Financial Support for Treatment

3.) Promote Healing and Empowerment through running

Every mile I run and every dollar raised goes directly toward free trauma therapy — because healing shouldn’t be a privilege reserved for those who can afford it. This is Six Star for Survivors: one runner, six cities, and a mission to make sure cost is never the reason a survivor goes without care.
